 March

I love such types of comics like March - the non-fiction comics.

This is an excellent way for all the people who don't like to read or for children to learn science or history.

Usually, autobiography or history books are boring to read, especially for young adults. When this topic is transformed into a graphic narrative format, it becomes much clearer and much more fun to read.

And with March I think this works very well. Politics history is complicated. And most of the time, it is tough to make people feel the event through blank text. But when visuals are involved, the story makes you think and understand situations and problems you even don't associate with. And with some topics, it is essential to know how others feel in certain situations, and pictures with great expressions and poses are helping people become more emphatic.

As an international student, I don't know much about US political history, and it was interesting for me to discover the life of such a person as John Lewis and what he did for his country. His story makes me sad but also hopeful. It is excellent to know that eventually, the right thing will come if your fight for the right thing. This comic more than ever relates to what I am feeling right now about the world and what is going on right now in other brother neighbor countries, how people march for freedom, against army or police, and without fear.

Such works always inspire me not to lose hope that the right thing will eventually win.

Finally, I liked the art of comics. Very expressive poses and expressions, bold dark inks with sharp watercolor strokes, make you feel the fear and disgust of how terrible some people are. It makes you feel the unfairness of what is going on.

And story-wise, I like how the author first makes know where and how John Lewis began - his farm with chickens, and how slowly his March started with a simple act of just sitting at the counter.

I think comic artists should pay more attention to this educational aspect of comics and how great this medium is for educating people. And if there is something important you want to say about this world, you can say it through comic books.
